Leadership Advisory · Private Facilitation

There's one person you're still arguing with in your head.

Private facilitation for attorneys, advisors, and executives whose emotional charge around specific people — opposing counsel, a client, a partner, a rival, a board member — is costing them judgment, composure, and command of the room.

One relationship at a time. Not coping strategies — the perception itself.

If you watched the live demonstration and immediately thought of someone, this is where that same work gets applied to your actual practice.

On stage, one volunteer moves from charge to clarity while the room watches. This is that same work — applied privately, to the relationships shaping your practice.

The Method — And Who Delivers It

The work draws on the Demartini Method, developed by Dr. John Demartini. Sam Osborne is a trained Demartini Method Facilitator — this is not a licensed script read secondhand, but practiced work he delivers directly, backed by thirty years studying perception in his own right and five years demonstrating it live in front of attorneys, advisors, executives, and boards.

Why This Work Exists

Most problems in high-stakes work are not strategic first. They are perceptual.

You do not lose composure because the stakes are high. You lose it because specific people distort how you see, interpret, and respond. This work exists to address that distortion.

The Problem This Solves

Specific people are costing you composure.

Not in theory. In depositions, negotiations, and boardrooms. In how much authority you can actually access when the room turns hostile.

The Adversary

Opposing counsel, the counterparty, the negotiator across the table. Their provocation is deliberate — and it works. You leave still arguing with them in your head, and your strategy narrows to a reaction.

The Client

They ignore your counsel, then hold you responsible for the outcome. Resentment creeps into the relationship, and your judgment stops being clean.

The Boss or Senior Partner

Their scrutiny changes your posture. You over-prepare, second-guess, and start performing competence instead of exercising it.

The Board

Every meeting becomes a firing squad. One member's hostility triggers your defensiveness before the agenda even starts — and the whole room reads it.

The Rival

A peer competing for the same ground — the promotion, the account, the mandate. Their presence pulls you off your own game and into theirs.

The Direct Report

Their resistance pulls you toward micromanagement, avoidance, or frustration. Delegation becomes distorted by charge, and the work suffers for it.

What the Advisory Delivers

Structured work. Person by person.

Sequential Facilitation

Each session applies the method to a different charged relationship in your work. One session for the adversary across the table. One for the client who won't take counsel. One for the partner, boss, or board member whose presence changes your posture the moment they enter the room.

This is not generic professional development. It is precision work applied to the relationships where emotional charge is quietly distorting judgment, advocacy, and authority.

You do not learn coping strategies. You work directly on the perception itself.

The Shift Inside Each Session

  • Identify the specific person and the trait carrying emotional charge
  • Score how one-sided it currently feels
  • Examine where that same trait appears in your own form
  • Work through projection using reflective awareness
  • Balance perception by seeing both sides clearly
  • Return to the relationship with greater composure and accuracy
The measurable shift
100% cost · 0% benefit toward 50 / 50

The same movement the room watches during a keynote demonstration — here, applied privately and repeatedly, to each relationship that matters in your practice.

Perceptual Balance

Each session works to restore a more balanced, accurate view of the person across the table.

Projection Revealed

The traits that carry the strongest charge are rarely only about them. The method makes that visible.

Authority Returned

As the charge diminishes, so does the invisible loss of power it can create in the relationship.

What this is — and is not. The Demartini Method is a structured perceptual-reframing facilitation: a systematic sequence of written and guided questions designed to bring balance to how you perceive a specific person. It is educational and developmental in nature. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide therapy for any medical, psychological, or mental health condition, and it is not a substitute for care from a licensed mental health professional. If you are dealing with a mental health condition, please work with a qualified provider.

Before You Ask

The two objections worth naming.

Nobody in a high-stakes practice hears “dissolve the charge” without wondering what it costs them.

“Won’t this make me less of a fighter?”

This is the question every litigator asks, and it deserves a straight answer: no — the opposite. Charge is not what makes you formidable. It is what makes you readable.

When opposing counsel can provoke you, they control the tempo, and your strategy narrows to whatever answers the provocation. Dissolve the charge and the aggression is still fully available — you simply choose when to deploy it, rather than having it drawn out of you on their schedule.

“Isn’t this just suppressing what I feel?”

Suppression is holding a charge down. It costs something every time, and it eventually shows — in your health, your tone, or a moment you can’t take back.

This works in the other direction. If you can see the cost and the benefit of what happened with equal clarity, there is no charge left to hold. Nothing is being swallowed, because nothing is still pulling. That distinction is the entire method.

A Difficult Person
One word comes to mind: transformational. The longer it went on, the more it helped me reframe how I think about that one difficult person — and how they perceive me. I walked out feeling lighter.

The Trigger, Dissolved
I now have a tool to understand why I’m triggered — and to eliminate that trigger in the meeting, flip it around, and make it a positive as I go forward in my career.

Common Questions

What to expect.

How is this different from executive coaching?

Executive coaching usually develops skills, habits, or strategy. This work addresses the emotional charge distorting how you perceive specific people. You are not learning techniques to manage difficult relationships — you are working on how those relationships are held in perception.

Is this therapy or mental health treatment?

No. The Demartini Method is a structured, educational facilitation process, not psychotherapy or counseling. It does not diagnose or treat any medical, psychological, or mental health condition, and it is not a substitute for care from a licensed mental health professional. If you are dealing with a mental health condition, please work with a qualified provider — this work can sit alongside that care, not replace it.

Will this blunt my edge in an adversarial setting?

No. Aggression that you choose is a tool; aggression that gets pulled out of you is a tell. The work removes the second without touching the first. What changes is that opposing counsel loses the ability to set the tempo by provoking you — your intensity becomes something you deploy deliberately rather than something they can trigger on demand.

What if I need more than 8 or 16 sessions?

Most clients find that 8–16 facilitations address the relationships carrying the most charge. Where the ecosystem is broader, the Strategic engagement extends the work across a full year. The aim is not ongoing dependency — it is focused work, scoped to your reality.

How quickly will I see results?

Many clients report a noticeable shift in how they hold the relationship during or shortly after a session. Individual experiences vary, and no specific result or timeframe is guaranteed. The practical test is how the relationship feels the next time you walk into that courtroom, deposition, negotiation, or boardroom.

What happens during a session?

Each session is a structured facilitation. You identify the person and the trait carrying charge, score how one-sided it currently feels, and I guide you through a precise sequence of questions designed to reveal where that same trait appears in your own form and to bring your perception of that person into balance.

How is confidentiality handled?

Sessions are private, and your information is kept confidential under the terms of our written engagement agreement. To be clear, particularly for a legal audience: this is not a legally privileged relationship. Communications with a facilitator are not protected by attorney–client, therapist–patient, or any similar privilege, and are not shielded from subpoena or discovery. For that reason, the work is deliberately structured so you never need to share case specifics, privileged material, confidential business information, or client identities — the method operates on your perception of the person, not the facts of the matter.

Is this appropriate for firms or teams?

This advisory is designed for individual professionals. Firm-wide, practice group, team, or association applications require a different engagement structure. Reach out if you want to discuss that separately.

Do I need to have attended one of your keynotes?

No. Many advisory clients first encountered the work during a keynote, but the engagement is open to any professional dealing with charge toward specific people.
